Employee Bios

Ruth MedleyRuth Medley - Firm Administrator

Ruth has been with the law firm since 1997.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University with a degree in Information Systems Management and Business Management.   She has a diverse background including technology, management, and customer service.  Prior to joining Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, P.C., she managed the information systems, business office and service center for a telephone company.  Ruth serves the firm as the business manager and also supervises the staff of the law firm.   Her knowledge and experience enables her to  provide client satisfaction in all business processes of the firm.

Ruth enjoys reading, traveling, golf, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys singing in a women’s choir at her church.  Ruth and her husband, Sutton, reside in Bolivar.

Shontel CunninghamShontel Cunningham - Paralegal
Shontel joined the firm in 1992.  She has worked for attorneys who practice in social security disability, family law, corporate, personal injury and is now the probate paralegal.  She has enjoyed many different aspects of each field.  Shontel is married and together they are blessed with two wonderful children.

Bondena NeillBondena Neill - Paralegal
Bondena currently lives in Stockton, Missouri where she grew up. After graduating from Stockton High School she worked for the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department for ten years and Citizens Memorial Hospital Home Health and Hospice for eight years. Bondena has been a paralegal with Douglas, Haun & Heidemann since 1996, working in various areas including bankruptcy and corporate law. She is currently secretary to the senior partner, Kerry D. Douglas, as well as being the estate planning paralegal for the firm.

Bondena is also a volunteer for Citizens Memorial Hospital Hospice and has one son, Marty Neill, who lives in Springfield, Missouri.

Andrea ZumwaltAndrea Zumwalt – Receptionist
Andrea Zumwalt grew up in Long Lane, Missouri.  She graduated Buffalo High School where she focused her studies on computers and office technology and graduated on the honor roll. Andrea attended Louisburg Technical School where she obtained her certificate in Office Technologies.  She switched studies and went on to become a Certified Nurse’s Assistant where she worked in geriatrics for several years.

Andrea was employed as an office manager for a trucking company in Dallas County when she met and married her husband who is a career Navy man.  Due to a military relocation they moved to Belton, Missouri and spent four years on Richards-Gabaur Base.  While there Andrea obtained her business license and certification through the United States Marine Corps and worked as a child care provider where she obtained several hours of Physical and Psychosocial modules related to child development. Andrea spent three years in Des Moines, Iowa where she was employed as a pre-school teacher and an on-site supervisor of a day care facility.  Andrea is married and has three children.  In her spare time she enjoys crafts and spending time with her family and friends.  Andrea has been employed with Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, P.C. since February 2008.

Holly CurlHolly Curl - Paralegal
Holly was born in Grand Rapids, MI and spent most of her life in either the Dallas, TX area or the Kansas City, MO area.  She graduated Cum Laude in 2005 with an Associates of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Springfield College in Springfield, Missouri.  She served as President of the Paralegal Club while in school.  She is currently working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  Holly has been working for Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, P.C. since 2005.  Holly works in Commercial and Real Estate Law.  She also has experience in Estate Planning and Civil Litigation.

Holly lives in Bolivar, Missouri with her husband Michael and her two children.  They enjoy camping, hiking, rappelling, horseback riding and traveling.

Janice UchtmanJanice Uchtman - Paralegal
Janice has always lived in Dallas County, Missouri.  She is a graduate of the former Draughon’s Business College, Springfield, Missouri, and has served as the firm’s real estate paralegal since 1994.  Her interest in real estate began with the first attorney she worked for in 1975 when abstract title opinions were still prevalent and title insurance was rare in rural areas.  Foreclosures, IRC 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, real estate closings, partition suits and all types of deed preparation are just some of the areas of real estate that are included in a typical day at the firm for Janice.

Janice and her husband, Randy, live south of Buffalo, Missouri, and have been married since 2002.  She has one son, Lance, who is 19 years old.  She is a member of the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce; served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas County R-1 Alumni Association, which sponsors and directs the Miss Dallas County Pageant and the Little Miss Dallas County Pageant from 1978-2007; Member of Charity Christian Church, where she serves as church pianist; currently the vice chair of the Dallas County Central Republican Committee and has been the Republican Committeewoman for her township since 1984; Board member of the Dallas County Extension Council and a member of the Dallas County Master Gardeners.

Kim JumpKim Jump - Paralegal
Kim graduated from Cass Midway High School in 1974.  She entered the legal field in 1986 with L.R. Magee of Kansas City, Missouri.  Kim moved to the Bolivar area in 1997 so her husband could be closer to his family.  She worked in the legal field in Springfield, Missouri for ten years prior to joining Douglas, Haun & Heidemann. P.C. in January, 2008.  She is the paralegal for Craig Heidemann and Nathan Duncan assisting with client cases in the area of personal injury, medical malpractice and civil matters.  Kim also assists clients with corporate work, initiating setup and maintenance of LLC’s.

When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, especially one or all of her 11 grandchildren and her husband, Mike.  She also enjoys spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens “playing in the dirt”.

Mary HopwoodMary Hopwood - Paralegal

Mary joined our firm in 1994.  She graduated from Sparks Business College in Illinois. She has experience in business law, corporate law, litigation, commercial law and the last several years in family law, collections and mechanic’s liens.  Mary is married and has three children.

Tammy KellyTammy Kelly - Paralegal

Tammy was raised in Houston, Texas.  Upon completion of high school Tammy attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Tammy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and Endorsements in Early Childhood, Mental Retardation and Behavior Disorders.  Tammy taught kindergarten for 3 years and 6th/7th grade special education for 1 year.  In 1983 Tammy met and married the man of her dreams.  From 1985 to 2004 Tammy was a stay at home mom raising their two sons.  From 1992-2003 Tammy simultaneously performed all office duties for their business.

Tammy loves spending time with her husband Hal, son Keith & his wife Charity and son Kevin.  Tammy is an avid scrapbooker and quilter and loves to cook.

Tammy joined the firm on May 10, 2004 and handles the bookkeeping responsibilities and does the billing for the law firm.

Tammy MilburnTammy Milburn - Paralegal

Tammy has been with Douglas, Haun & Heidemann since 2003.  Prior to joining the staff, she worked for attorneys in Bolivar and the surrounding area including the Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney.  She specializes in traffic/criminal law and family law.  Tammy, her husband, Bryan and their four teenagers, Whitney, Ethan, Stephanie and Olivia live in Bolivar and enjoy being a part of the community.  She is also on the Polk County Relay for Life committee, teaches preschoolers in Sunday school, volunteers at the Esquire ministry and works with the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership organization.  She takes pleasure in being with her family, the challenges of her job and interacting with the attorneys and staff at Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, P.C.
